Presenter Uta Bresan and the team from the TV series “Tierisch tierisch” (MDR) are using social media to draw attention to the plight of many animal shelters and shelter animals that need to be rehomed - and are thus supporting the German Animal Welfare Federation.

“We are delighted that the team is supporting our work on a quasi-voluntary basis and raising public awareness of the fact that many animal shelters are currently at their limits. At the same time, the campaign supports the placement work of our affiliated animal shelters. This commitment cannot be taken for granted,” said Thomas Schröder, President of the German Animal Welfare Federation, expressing his thanks.

The German Animal Welfare Federation has already warned several times that the currently exploding costs could plunge animal shelters into insolvency. At the same time, the association fears that inflation could lead to more animals being handed in to animal shelters. It is already noticeable that the placement of shelter animals is stagnating and the willingness to donate is declining. Animal shelters are dependent on help so that they can continue to be there for all animals in need.

Because MDR has canceled the broadcasting slot for the animal placement show “Tierisch, tierisch” during the World Cup, the production team from Ariane Film and presenter Uta Bresan have decided to continue on a voluntary basis during this time. On the social media channels of “Tierisch tierisch”, they continue to present shelter animals that are urgently looking for a new home. They also report on the difficult situation at animal shelters. The campaign has been running since November 10. Uta Bresan will also support the German Animal Welfare Federation as a presenter at the German Animal Welfare Award ceremony on November 28 in Berlin.
