Our facilities are located at various sites in Germany and Ukraine. The following applies everywhere: animal welfare takes center stage.

Animal Welfare Center Weidefeld

The Weidefeld Animal Welfare Center is the largest animal welfare facility in northern Germany and also a sanctuary for confiscated or distressed animals. Practical solutions to current animal welfare issues are developed and implemented in Weidefeld. The center is also a training facility for animal keepers and a recognized volunteer site for the Voluntary Ecological Year.

Sonnenhof

Our Sonnenhof is a home for young and old pets. With the "Seniors for Seniors" concept, Sonnenhof also enables older people to take in a dog. The puppy sanctuary also takes in rescued young animals from illegal puppy transports.

Animal Welfare Center Odessa

In 2005, the German Animal Welfare Federation opened an animal welfare and castration center in the port city of Odessa to provide medical care and care for the street dogs and countless free-roaming cats in the city.

Federal office

The federal office in Bonn is the administrative and control center of our joint work.

This is where we coordinate support for our members, animal welfare associations and regional federations as well as answering inquiries from citizens and journalists about animal welfare and nature conservation. It is also the headquarters of FINDEFIX, the German Animal Welfare Federation's pet register.

Akademie für Tierschutz

Academy for Animal Welfare

At the Academy for Animal Welfare in Neubiberg near Munich, scientists from the fields of biology, veterinary medicine and law take an in-depth look at animal welfare problems in our society. They develop the basis for the direction of animal welfare work in Germany and Europe. In our own cell culture laboratory, animal-free methods are further developed in order to accelerate the abolition of animal experiments. Animal rights activists can attend various seminars for further training.

Hauptstadtbüro in Berlin

Capital city office

The German Animal Welfare Federation has had an office in Berlin since 2008.

The close proximity to the Federal Government, Bundestag and Bundesrat as well as to the state representations to the Federal Government enables us to maintain close contact with officials and elected representatives as well as the scientific advisors in the individual houses.

The office of the German Animal Welfare Federation in Brussels is located in a bright old building.

EU office in Brussels

In Europe, together with our umbrella organization, the Eurogroup for Animals, we give animal welfare a strong voice. Since 2022, we have had our own office in Brussels so that we can work with our partners to directly influence animal welfare policy in the European Union.

Telephone exchange in Cologne

Deutscher Tierschutzbund Service gGmbH" is our wholly-owned subsidiary based in Cologne. Its establishment enables us to process the high number of incoming calls much better. The experienced telephone operators are the first point of contact for animal lovers who contact the German Animal Welfare Federation with a concern.
