The German Animal Welfare Federation, together with the magazines FUNK UHR and Super TV and supported by the food brands Whiskas and Pedigree, is once again looking for potential winners of the German Animal Welfare Award. Particularly committed people as well as associations or initiatives that bring animal welfare in Germany to life and promote it can be nominated for the award until mid-June or apply themselves. The award ceremony will take place on October 19 in Berlin.

"With the German Animal Welfare Award, we want to honor people who work passionately and imaginatively for animals and sacrifice time, energy and often money so that animals in our society can experience compassion and lead a better life. Many animal welfare activists often work unnoticed and modestly in the shadows - we want to make their work visible and support them," says Thomas Schröder, President of the German Animal Welfare Federation. The German Animal Welfare Award, the award for a lifetime achievement in animal welfare and a special category are therefore associated with prize money totaling 8,000 euros, which is intended to benefit the animals. The magazines FUNK UHR and Super TV will also be awarding a readers' prize worth 1,000 euros.

SUGGESTIONS CAN BE SUBMITTED UNTIL JUNE 15

Anyone who would like to nominate themselves, another committed person or associations and initiatives that are particularly committed to the welfare of animals for the German Animal Welfare Award can submit their nomination via an online form at www.tierschutzbund.de/bewerbung-tierschutzpreis. The application should state what makes the proposed person's commitment so special or which extraordinary projects or focal points make an association or animal welfare initiative particularly worthy of an award. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2023, and a four-member jury will select the winners from the proposals submitted. Among others, Stefanie Hertel, animal welfare ambassador of the German Animal Welfare Federation, will help select the winners.
