Sponsorships for animalsOur raccoons Mia, Ronja and Tobi

In addition to the wild animals that only find temporary shelter with us until they can be released back into the wild, there are also some permanent residents of our wildlife facility - such as our raccoons. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to release raccoons into the wild, as they are not a native species. That is why we try to offer them as species-appropriate a life as possible at the Weidefeld Animal Welfare Center.

Our three raccoons Mia, Ronja and Tobi have been inseparable for years and roam the large green enclosure, which they share with the other raccoons. There they can enjoy the view from the climbing tree or hide in their cave boxes, but they also like to attack our animal keepers during the daily feeding or cleaning work with obvious pleasure.

Our three raccoon sponsor animals are introduced in more detail here:

Mia

Female raccoon Mia was born in 2018. Animal welfare activists found her and her sister Ronja as orphaned kittens. Unfortunately, we do not know how their parents died. Mia and Ronja were nursed back to health and came to us at the Weidefeld Animal Welfare Center via an animal shelter. After a short acclimatization period, they quickly became friends with the oldest raccoon, Tobi.

Mia and Ronja are usually out and about with the younger raccoons in the green outdoor area or lying asleep in the fork of the climbing tree. From there they can also enjoy the view or hide in their cave boxes.

Mia is the most impatient of the group. If feeding is not going fast enough, she sometimes jumps on the keepers and tries to get her food faster.

Mia is always happy to have new sponsors - support Mia with a sponsorship.

Ronja

Female raccoon Ronja was born in 2018. Animal welfare activists found her and her sister Mia as orphaned cubs. Unfortunately, we don't know how their parents died. Ronja and Mia were nursed back to health and came to us at the Weidefeld Animal Welfare Center via an animal shelter. After a short acclimatization period, they quickly became friends with the oldest raccoon, Tobi.

Ronja and Mia are usually out and about with the younger raccoons in the green outdoor area or lying asleep in the fork of the climbing tree. From there, they can also enjoy the view or hide in their cave boxes.

Ronja is the undisputed leader of the group and sets the tone.

Tobi

Male raccoon Tobi is the oldest of our raccoons. He has been living at the Weidefeld Animal Welfare Center since 2014. Before that, he lived at the Munich animal shelter together with Bunny the raccoon. When Bunny died, he moved into Weidefeld so he wouldn't be alone.

Tobi lives together with five other raccoons in a large green outdoor enclosure. Tobi usually lies snuggled up in one of the huts or receives treats from the animal keepers. Due to his age, he no longer climbs the high climbing tree. Tobi is the most cautious of the six raccoons. He takes the food from your hand very gently and calmly - he is the gentleman among them.

Our senior Tobi would be delighted if you would support him with a sponsorship.
